Co-founder
Sumanas Maram
Sumanas Maram is a senior at Millard North High School in Omaha. He is deeply involved in Mental Melting Pot's mission and aims to expand its goals to more areas around the US in order to bring awareness to this important issue. As a co-president, he works to develop curriculum and kits to implement in various parts of the community and connects with other organizations to increase MMP's impact. Outside of Mental Melting Pot, Sumanas is involved in his school's tennis and forensics teams. He is also actively volunteers for organizations such as NSF, the Red Cross, and CHI Lakeside.

Anuj Singh
Anuj Singh is a junior at Millard North High School in Omaha. He is passionate about implementing diverse cultural perspectives in mental health and increasing awareness among minoritized groups. As the co-president of Mental Melting Pot, he works to advocate for these groups and implement such curriculum in high school education. Outside of his work with Mental Melting Pot, Anuj is actively involved with the Red Cross as well as his school's journalism and forensics programs.

Ferial Pearson
Ferial Pearson Ed.D. is a Kenyan Indian queer disabled Muslim immigrant who is an Associate Professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a multiple national award-winning educator for 24 years who has taught high school English Language Arts and Teacher Education. Along with her students, she is the founder of The Secret Kindness Agents Project which has been featured by Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation, Hallmark, Parents Magazine, Learning for Justice website and magazine, Midwest Living Magazine, and more. Her research interests include peace, justice, and kindness education, as well as intersectionality in critical, trauma informed, and culturally sustainable pedagogies.

Daniel Gih
Dr. Gih (he/him/his) is a Professor and Vice Chair of Education in the UNMC Department of Psychiatry and works clinically in the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic. He is the founding program director of the UNMC psychiatry residency program. He completed his medical education at the University of Iowa and trained at the University of Michigan for his psychiatry residency and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. While on the faculty at Michigan, he co-founded and directed the University of Michigan Comprehensive Eating Disorder Program, the state's only academic partial hospitalization program for children and young adults with eating disorders..

Dr. McMillan, the Director of the Office of Teaching and Learning in University of Nebraska Medical Center's College of Public Health, is interested in Distance Education, Instructional Design, Online Instructional Design, Online student engagement, Flipped Classrooms, Instructional Technology.
